Raw, Honest, clinically and emotionally accurate. Darren’s compassion and commitment to patient care and his respect for his colleagues are testament to his professionalism. A rare insight into a world many don’t get to experience, and the personal and professional challenges that come with it. This book is a fantastic account of an astounding career which is humbling for a fellow ambo to read! Make sure you take the time.

It’s a ripping yarn, written from the heart. You have talent, you should write another!

I laughed and I cried. There were a couple of occasions where I had to stop, I was so overwhelmed. So beautifully written, honest, raw and at times confronting. I could see the scenes and was in awe of the dedicated teams of people that try to pick up the pieces.
I admit that when I heard you present the case of little Liam at the Grand Trauma Round I was unable to contain my tears, but then I scanned the room, there was not a dry eye to be seen.
Thank you Darren for allowing us into this crazy world and for sharing your deepest feelings.

Great read!! Three points: Should be very proud of your work over the years, wrapped to be able to consider you a colleague. Your stories stimulate memories of similar cases over the years and your record of the pressures felt and anxieties felt by me (and I’m sure others) is accurate and its great/supportive to feel that others feel the same.
Thirdly I have given it to Lea to read, she can’t put it down, might help explain why her husband is who he is. Should be mandatory reading for our new staff and their family. Can’t wait for the sequel. THANKS!!
